Behind the Photo
Welcome to my portfolio. Here you’ll find a selection of my work. Explore my projects to learn more about how they were created.
Gingivitis
This picture was originally taken to be a prank on my mom. I kept my wisdom teeth from when I was a kid. The process only took an hour. The majority of that time was spent baking ketchup on an old baking sheet. I then doused my teeth, a screwdriver and a pizza cutter with ketchup and siracha sauce, then viola. Probably one of my favorite pictures.

Courtesan Confessions
For a while, I had been thinking of a writing piece about prostitutes and how beautifully destructive their roles can be. I had offered to pay several women to dress up in tight skirts and come take pictures in a dark alley with me, but for some reason they all said no...
So, fast forward a year or two later, while working security one night in a sketchy part of downtown Anchorage I saw this ally way. When I saw the ally, all those past thoughts of prostitution came back to me. I risked my safety to take this picture; my heart was beating so fast because I was worried someone was going to pop out and jump me.

Heart on my Sleeves
This was by far one of the longest photo-shoots I have taken. It took me about 2 days of prep time just to shoot this. I made a backdrop with some cardboard and white spray paint. Went to my local Walmart (not sponsored btw) bought some fake flowers then super glued those suckers to the backdrop. I also think I used about a gallon of fake blood/food coloring. I also had to set my phone on a timer, jump over the phone, then pose for the picture, one photo at a time. Fun, but man I wish I had someone to help me back then.

Glow Sticks
I started to really take my craft serious at this point in my writing/photography journey. One night I decided to lock myself in a dark room with like 100 glowsticks and record the process. I lost my sanity about 30 minutes in and decided to start busting those suckers open. It made such an incredibly large mess and FYI they do not taste as good as they look...

Rising Tides
This photo was actually taken in the middle of a scorching hot day, in gorgeous Cancun, Mexico. I couldn't take any pictures of myself on this trip because my first night there I got black out drunk and woke up with a steak sized black eye. It was huge... or at least felt huge. I was so self-conscious that whole trip.
